Virginia will share the fascinating story behind her book, La Cebolla Valley, through oral histories, maps, historic documents, and photographs. Discover how farming families from northern New Mexico made their way to Wyoming and built new lives while carrying their traditions, stories, and cultural heritage with them.
This remarkable migration began with the 1898 closing of Fort Union in Mora County, New Mexico, and continued through the challenges of the Great Depression in the 1930s and World War II in the 1940s. These hardworking New Mexicans followed opportunity north, helping shape Wyoming’s agricultural communities and leaving a lasting legacy.
