SUMMARY:Spring Pastels with Barbara Wolf
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to use pastels to paint beautiful spring flowers with instructor Barbara Wolf. Participants may use the reference photos provided or bring their own pictures for inspiration. \n\n\n\nSpring Pastels with Barbara Wolf will take place in the Shane Smith Grand Conservatory on February 6th from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The workshop is limited to 20 participants\, and all materials are provided. \n\n\n\nA good time is assured\, but pre-registration is required. The cost is $30 per person\, which includes a $5 donation to the Gardens. \n\n\n\nABOUT BARBRA J WOLF \n\n\n\nThe ability to create art and work with various mediums has allowed me to develop more skills and to look at the beauty around me with a fresh perspective and appreciation. I have worked with acrylics\, oils\, watercolor\, and clay as well as with pastels\, with which I have painted since 2003. \n\n\n\nPastels are unique not only in the range of pigments available but also in their forgiving quality. It’s not unusual for me to work with five or six pastel colors to achieve the hue and tone I wish to express. It’s working with various colors that helps me make a statement or evoke a feeling in my paintings. I also enjoy the fact that these pastels can stand the test of time and not lose any of their vibrance. \n\n\n\nI have studied with many artists with a variety of mediums everywhere I’ve lived. In learning various techniques and styles\, I’ve been able to find my own “voice” in painting. My art has been in galleries in Michigan\, Washington state\, California and here in Wyoming. \n\n\n\nI feel at home with pastels and enjoy sharing my art with others. Much of my art deals with landscapes\, but I also enjoy painting flowers and people. In this class\, I will mostly be working with landscapes unless someone wants to try some other subject.

SUMMARY:Vegetable Garden Series
DESCRIPTION:Join CBG staff and get back to basics on growing your own veggies in our Vegetable Garden Class Series. Get dirty with us as you take part in a series of hands-on workshops centered around our historic 1800s vegetable garden. Throughout the spring and summer\, you’ll learn how to select seeds\, start them indoors\, transplant seedlings\, care for growing plants\, and harvest produce—experiencing the complete growing cycle from start to finish. \n\n\n\nThis six-class series\, meeting once a month\, combines traditional classroom learning with outdoor\, hands-on experience. Together\, we will be seeding\, transplanting\, planting\, maintaining\, and harvesting\, with two shared goals in mind: growing healthy\, productive vegetables suited to Wyoming’s unique climate\, and donating the harvest to Grow a Little Extra\, helping provide fresh food to people in need within our community. \n\n\n\nThis series is both knowledge-based and hands-on\, offering practical skills\, confidence\, and real-world experience for successful vegetable gardening in Wyoming.Cost: $50 per person \n\n\n\nWhen: February through August (First Saturday of every month expect June & July will be the second Saturday). \n\n\n\nTime: 10 A.M. to 11:30 A.M \n\n\n\nWhere: Volunteer break room and outdoors \n\n\n\nRefund Policy: Programs and classes are non-refundable; all sales are final. \n\n\n\nFebruary – Planning the Garden Feb 7\, 2026 \n\n\n\nLearn how to site\, schedule\, and plan your vegetable garden to get the most out of it. We’ll discuss succession plantings\, shade/sun exposure\, and more to set you up for success before you get started this growing season. Then take that knowledge and spend some time making plans and sketches\, and having CBG staff help you out. \n\n\n\nMarch – Starting from Seed March 7\, 2026 \n\n\n\nMost vegetables begin as seeds\, and you’ll learn how to sow and grow them until the weather allows for transplanting. We’ll discuss timing and the basics of seed sowing\, and then get a chance to put it into practice in the greenhouse by starting some vegetables for this season’s 1800s vegetable garden. \n\n\n\nApril – Site Preparation April 4\, 2026 \n\n\n\nWhat makes a good garden? Location\, location\, location\, and lots of good hard work. Learn how to prep the soil before planting your garden. Nutrition and water content go further than you might think. See how we get the 1800s garden woke up from its winter sleep and off to work for the spring. \n\n\n\nMay – Cool Season Crops & Care May 2\, 2026 \n\n\n\nCabbages\, Broccoli\, and Lettuce. Oh My! Summer is not the only time to be growing something for the table. We’ll sow and transplant those veggies that don’t mind a little frost and get a jump on the growing season in the 1800s garden. \n\n\n\nJune – Warm Season Crops & Care June 13\, 2026 \n\n\n\nFinally\, tomatoes\, the main reason you came. There are also beans\, squash\, peppers\, and other veggies that will not tolerate any cold\, and now’s the time to get them in the ground. Help CBG staff put the finishing touches on the 1800s garden and see what all you need to do to start doing the real work of the veggie garden. Watering\, weeding\, and harvest will continue as summer comes. \n\n\n\nJuly – Harvesting & maintaining weeds July 11\, 2026 \n\n\n\nJuly is when the garden is both most productive and most demanding. The heat speeds up growth—but it also stresses plants\, and weeds love it just as much as your crops do. July weeds grow fast and aggressively. The more you harvest\, the more most plants will produce. \n\n\n\nAugust – Harvesting and Preparing for Fall Aug 1\, 2026 \n\n\n\nAugust is a busy and rewarding month in the garden. Summer crops are at their peak\, and at the same time\, it’s the perfect moment to start planning and planting for fall. Continue deep\, consistent watering. Clear out our garden and prepare for fall and winter.

SUMMARY:Vegetable Garden Series
DESCRIPTION:Join CBG staff and get down to basics on growing your own this year in our Vegetable Garden Class Series. Then\, get dirty with us as you get a hands-on supplement to each class in the 1800’s vegetable garden. You’ll learn how to pick seeds out\, start them indoors\, transplant them into a garden\, and much more over the course of the spring.  \n\n\n\n6 classes\, once a month\, combine a traditional classroom and outdoor hands-on experience to get you growing right.  \n\n\n\nCost: $50 per person \n\n\n\nWhen: February through August (First Saturday of every month expect June & July will be the second Saturday). \n\n\n\nTime: 10 A.M. to 11:30 A.M \n\n\n\nWhere: Volunteer break room and outdoors \n\n\n\nRefund Policy: Programs and classes are non-refundable; all sales are final. \n\n\n\nFebruary – Planning the Garden Feb 7\, 2026 \n\n\n\n    Learn how to site\, schedule\, and plan your vegetable garden to get the most out of it. We’ll discuss succession plantings\, shade/sun exposure\, and more to set you up for success before you get started this growing season. Then take that knowledge and spend some time making plans and sketches\, and having CBG staff help you out. \n\n\n\nMarch – Starting from Seed March 7\, 2026 \n\n\n\n    Most vegetables begin as seeds\, and you’ll learn how to sow and grow them until the weather allows for transplanting. We’ll discuss timing and the basics of seed sowing\, and then get a chance to put it into practice in the greenhouse by starting some vegetables for this season’s 1800s vegetable garden. \n\n\n\nApril – Site Preparation April 4\, 2026 \n\n\n\n    What makes a good garden? Location\, location\, location\, and lots of good hard work. Learn how to prep the soil before planting your garden. Nutrition and water content go further than you might think. See how we get the 1800s garden woke up from its winter sleep and off to work for the spring.  \n\n\n\nMay – Cool Season Crops & Care May 2\, 2026 \n\n\n\n    Cabbages\, Broccoli\, and Lettuce. Oh My! Summer is not the only time to be growing something for the table. We’ll sow and transplant those veggies that don’t mind a little frost and get a jump on the growing season in the 1800s garden.  \n\n\n\nJune – Warm Season Crops & Care June 13\, 2026 \n\n\n\n    Finally\, tomatoes\, the main reason you came. \n\n\n\nJuly – Harvesting & maintaining weeds July 11\, 2026 \n\n\n\n    July is when the garden is both most productive and most demanding. The heat speeds up growth—but it also stresses plants\, and weeds love it just as much as your crops do. July weeds grow fast and aggressively. The more you harvest\, the more most plants will produce. \n\n\n\nAugust – Harvesting and Preparing for Fall Aug 1\, 2026 \n\n\n\n    August is a busy and rewarding month in the garden. Summer crops are at their peak\, and at the same time\, it’s the perfect moment to start planning and planting for fall.  Continue deep\, consistent watering. Clear out our garden and prepare for fall and winter.
