SUMMARY:Painting with Pastels by Barbara Wolf
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to create your own landscapes with Barbra Wolf using pastels. You can use the photos we give as inspiration\, or you can bring your own pictures.  \n\n\n\n Painting with Pastels will take place in the Shane Smith Grand Conservatory classroom on Saturday\, September 27\, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Twenty people can sign up for this workshop\, and all necessary materials will be provided. A good time is assured\, but pre-registration is necessary. Registration is $30 per person and includes a $5 donation to the Gardens. \n\n\n\nABOUT BARBRA J WOLF \n\n\n\nThe ability to create art and work with various mediums has allowed me to develop more skills and to look at the beauty around me with a fresh perspective and appreciation.  I have worked with acrylics\, oils\, watercolor\, and clay as well as with pastels\, with which I have painted since 2003. \n\n\n\nPastels are unique not only in the range of pigments available but also in their forgiving quality.  It’s not unusual for me to work with five or six pastel colors to achieve the hue and tone I wish to express.  It’s working with various colors that helps me make a statement or evoke a feeling in my paintings.  I also enjoy the fact that these pastels can stand the test of time and not lose any of their vibrance. \n\n\n\nI have studied with many artists with a variety of mediums everywhere I’ve lived.  In learning various techniques and styles\, I’ve been able to find my own “voice” in painting.  My art has been in galleries in Michigan\, Washington state\, California and here in Wyoming. \n\n\n\nI feel at home with pastels and enjoy sharing my art with others.  Much of my art deals with landscapes\, but I also enjoy painting flowers and people.  In this class\, I will mostly be working with landscapes unless someone wants to try some other subject.

SUMMARY:Día de los Muertos Community Ofrendas
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate those who have passed on and learn about the culture\, traditions\, and history of the Day of the Dead. You can find events across town throughout October and into the first week of November!Día de los Muertos is a 2-day holiday that began in Mexico and is traditionally celebrated across Latin America and beyond. During these two days\, it is believed that the passage between the real world and the spirit world opens\, allowing deceased loved ones to come back and visit their living relatives. Traditions and customs vary in different places\, but the base beliefs remain the same. This holiday offers a unique and colorful perspective on death that turns a sad fact of life into something beautiful. We invite the community to bring copies of pictures of their loved one to add to our community offerndas. The community may bring offers\, but please do not bring anything you do not want back. The Cheyenne Botanic Gardens provide a welcoming space for people to celebrate their culture. Whether you’re an art enthusiast or simply looking for a serene escape\, the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens is a must-visit destination that promises to inspire and delight. \n\n\n\nAbout the Artist: \n\n\n\nI feel I must have been influenced as a youngster by my mother\, who was an artist herself and taught individual art classes. I was more interested in baseball until we moved to Brazil in 1973. It was there that I started drawing and became interested in art. I found later in life that I was influenced by the bright and earthly colors in Latin American art. \n\n\n\nTo learn more about Patrick\, please visit the Gardens Tuesday through Saturday\, 10 AM to 5 PM.
