We recently received this note from a supporter:
“Last year we bought an electric composter and it really works great. We put virtually everything in it and spread the compost in the garden this spring. Naturally, we had also put all of our cantaloupe and honeydew melon seeds in it too.Well what I thought was volunteer cucumber plants coming up in one bed…was actually cantaloupe and honeydew melons! Just for fun, I let them grow without any expectations of maturity….but his morning I harvested about 25 of them and they are delicious!!!
I guess accidents happen….and next year I think I’m going for pineapple.
Thanks for all that you guys do…your gardens were outstanding throughout the city, and we are very excited about the new project!”
