Bedont Rose Garden

"God gave us our memories so that we might have roses in December."
-J. M. Barrie

The Cheyenne Botanic Gardens, located in Wyoming's largest municipal park, Lions Park, is Wyoming's only public botanic garden. It began in 1977 as the Cheyenne Community Solar Greenhouse. It was one of the nation's first large-scale, solar-heated greenhouses, built by volunteers. The project pioneered a garden that provided therapy and meaningful activity to seniors, youth at risk and handicapped volunteers, a tradition that continues today.

  Bedont Rose Garden

The Bedont Rose Garden was dedicated in August of 2003 thanks to the kind support of Hedy and Attilio Bedont. It features hundreds of roses and a small water fountain in the center. It also has a teakwood bench swing.

Because of Cheyenne's harsh climate the focus of the rose collection is non-grafted, hardy roses.

Watch as this garden matures in the next few years!
