INTERNSHIPS
Are you interested in a career in horticulture, public horticulture, landscaping or horticultural therapy? Work in Wyoming’s only public garden and the first solar powered botanic garden conservatory in the world (since 1977).
The award winning Cheyenne Botanic Gardens sits on 9 acres with over 27 specialty landscapes. It also includes a 62 acre developing arboretum. Interns gain a wide variety of experiences including:
Let us know your interests and we will try to tailor your experience. You will work with friendly, experienced, knowledgeable and accessible staff. The pay is not great, but the experience will pay you back the rest of your career.
We are looking for highly motivated candidates willing to learn, along with individuals who are personable and bright college students or recent graduates who can work well with all walks of life. Applicants must be in good physical health, able to communicate well with
diverse people and have a valid drivers license with good driving record.
Three positions are available for the 2012 year. There might be occasional short term openings anytime during the current year.
Cheyenne is only 30 minutes to Rocky Mountain trails, lakes and waterfalls. It is located ninety minutes north of Denver and 45 miles to three university towns (Greeley, Fort Collins and Laramie).
Cheyenne is famous for its great sunny, dry, crisp summer climate. It is home of the largest outdoor rodeo – Cheyenne Frontier Days (10 days of western oriented celebration, music, events and rodeo). Past Cheyenne Botanic Garden interns have gone on to become award winning professors in horticulture, run their own gardening and landscaping businesses, joined the Peace Corps, taken senior positions at larger public botanic gardens, employed as professional horticultural therapists at institutions and more.
